Deadpool is created by Fabian Nicieza & Rob Liefeld.  For the development of a Deadpool film starring Reynolds began in February 2004, before he went on to play the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. Reese and Wernick were hired for a spin off in 2010, and worked with Reynolds to more faithfully adapt the character (including his fourth wall breaking) after the portrayal in Wolverine was criticized for not doing so. Miller was hired in 2011 for his directorial debut, and an enthusiastic response to leaked test footage he created with Reynolds led to a green-light from Fox in 2014.

The film achieved both financial and critical success. It earned over $783 million against a $58 million budget, breaking numerous records: it became the highest-grossing R-rated film, the highest-grossing X-Men film, and the ninth-highest-grossing 2016 film. Critics praised Reynolds’ performance, the film’s style and faithfulness to the comics, and its action sequences. Some detractors criticized the plot as formulaic as well as the sheer number of jokes in the film. It also received numerous awards and nominations, including two Critics’ Choice Awards and two Golden Globe nominations. A sequel, Deadpool 2, was released in May 2018.

+ Plot

Wade Wilson is a dishonorably discharged special forces operative working as a mercenary when he meets prostitute Vanessa. Soon they become romantically involved, and later she accepts his marriage proposal. However, Wilson is soon diagnosed with terminal cancer, and leaves her without warning. Afterwards, he starts hunting down the man who gave him mutant abilities along with severely disfiguring his body, during the experimental session Wilson had agreed to.

 

 

+ High Points

i – Deadpool has made its own market in front of the strong line-up of the existing successful franchise, X-Men with its spin-off. The critics and audience gave a very positive response to it and are anxiously waiting for its sequels to the cinemas. This is one role which Ryan Reynolds is born to play.

ii – The real flaw of the character is that although he is all too powerful for the villain to fight with, but the character himself is too careless and doesn’t take situation on hand seriously, which gives the upper hand for his enemies to make the first strike.

iii – Most of the people, including comic book fans are very pleased to see a R18 film to which the developers keep the film true to its theme of violence and sex-based jokes as its comics are written with.

iv – The story starts off with a comical but loving relationship between Wilson and Vanessa who meets her one night at a bar. The importance is given to their relationship to whether Vanessa would accept him back or not after becoming Deadpool.

v – The screenplay is engaging enough to pull the audience towards the film with interest.

vi – The characters such as Weasel and Vanessa are very well written. They give a strong support to the main lead.

vii – The film does have nice laughs, smiles here and there with several hidden jokes where most of the audience could not get them.

viii – There were many interesting references made on real life celebrities and some on super hero movies.

ix – Unlike comics, Ajax and Angel Dust are very different to what we are shown in the film. Nevertheless, they able to bring a strong conflict for the prankster, anti-hero, Deadpool to his knees. Well, not literally. As long as Wilson has not paid proper attention to how to deal with the antagonist till, he meets couple of X-Men characters.

 

 

 

+ Low Points

i – It was fun watching Ryan Reynolds in super hero lead role again but can’t say I enjoyed as much as crowd did. The crowd was laughing at every joke there were including the minor ones. Most of the jokes were sex based,

ii – There are scenes where it showed how Dead Pool came to be super hero. Those were high graphic gore ones. Really disgusting to watch even at R18.

iii – Although I am huge fan of comic book films but I find other far greater films of Marvel and some of the Fox studio than this.

 

 

+ Overall

I believe Deadpool sequels would have more potential on creative humor than this one had.

Thanda Garam is a hilarious farce film where wrong people at wrong time are present in one house. A similar type of technique is famously used in the classic comedy film ‘Boeing, Boeing’ (1965) of Tony Curtis & Jerry Lewis. This thesis adviser is Zeeshan Haider while its Assistant Director is Amna Tariq and the 1st Unit Director is Sumair.

+ Plot
In a very difficult situation, Khumaar has able to convince his love interest Laila to meet him at his home all alone to spend some ‘Special’ time together. But due to sudden unfortunate events, his close friend Hijr forcefully enters his home as he needs an urgent quick shower to get ready and reach to a ceremony (Valima) where Hijr’s crush is also coming. While all this is going on, Khumaar’s neighbor Bhala Bhai also drops by and insists to watch his favorite drama series on Khumaar’s TV since his own TV is not working.

 

+ High Points
i. First & foremost the script which is written by the director. In many places he could had used open sexual reference-based jokes which he did not but rather used a more double / hidden meaning. Nowhere would I say that the jokes were vulgar or should not to be watched by mass audience.

ii. Saad Zameer Fareedi, {Wa Puthr! Tu To Cha Gaya} means this actor performed so brilliantly and intelligently that I would personally recommend him to any TV or Film Maker out there. This guy is the ‘Real Deal’, interesting to watch whenever his scenes were shown in the film. The director told me that he barely discussed with Saad what to do according to his character wants. He further added that the actor himself is so well trained and naturally talented that Saad knew exactly how to deliver the essential acting chops in able to gain audience attention towards him. Whenever Saad entered the frame as Bhala Bhai, the audience had huge smiles on their faces.

iii. It was a real challenge for the director that how he would be able to pull this off without raising his film ratings for targeted audience. At best I could say its a PG-13 film. Anyone who watches this film, would highly praise on its script analysis and in directorial POV that is how to keep the audience engaged throughout the film.

Mostly people, amateur film makers think or belief that its easy to make people laugh which in reality its not! Poor comedy films would usually use the help of random abusive remarks, stereo types, unrelated fight scenes, toilet or open sexual humor to make the film look like a good comedy film. In this film however, the sexual humor is carefully controlled by the director and not to present in open or explicit manner.

iv. Shabana Hassan really nails her character. She is a good experienced actress in theatre plays and films. Here the kind of love interest that she was told to perform, she did it with such enthusiasm that it was clearly shown on screen. The chemistry between Kaleem & her is comical and fun to watch.

 

+ Low Points
i. The art direction and the location (house) that the BTS team used to shoot worked against the main character’s status and personality.

ii. I do not agree with the director’s view on the film’s end, how he finishes it off. I believe it could have been better, brighter as almost the entire film was based on.

iii. The color correction in some scenes did not fit in properly. The transfer of the next scenes could have improved, sharper cuts.

iv. There were several movie mistakes in the film such as in one scene Bhala Bhai is standing next to the room’s door telling Khumar go and talk to Hijr in the lounge and in the very next scene, we see that Bhala Bhai is already sitting in the lounge where Khumar is talking with his friend Hijr.

 

+ Overall
Where many new film makers have failed to come up with genuine, creative jokes, it is Thanda Garam who has succeeded.

Alpha Bravo Charlie was aired on PTV from 18th May 1998 – ? Jul 1998. In total it consists of 14 episodes. Patriotism, thrill, humor, romance, jealousy and sense of achievement all are packed in one TV series. This drama is a sequel to Sunehray Din which was released in 1990. The subtitles are by Zia-ur Rehman.

It shows us the insight of the tough life our armed forces spend. Kashif extreme situation and presence was inspired from two real Army Officers, one of which is Lieutenant Colonel (R) Zafar Abbasi Ghazi. Along with romance & comedy, it also reflects Pakistan Army’s military operational involvement in the Bosnian War and Siachen conflict.

 This drama series became extremely popular quickly in Pakistan. The cast had no previous experience of acting prior this TV series. It is regarded as one of the well-scripted and famous drama series ever produced in Pakistan.

It revolves around three patriotic young men, friends — Faraz, Kashif & Gulsher as Alpha, Bravo, Charlie wants to start their careers in the Pakistan army. Their relationship is tested as they part ways to separate assignments in Bosnia, Siachen, and Lahore.

 

 

+ High Points

i – The concept & its story are brilliantly well put. Actually it’s the only great example do I have to recommend to someone which is based on our nation’s army. Either they show ‘Over the Top’ action scenes, or they made it into ‘Over Dramatic’ during their emotional moments. This is the perfect example, how to present a war action-drama TV series with the combination of patriotism, humor, action and romance, all into one. Usually our Pakistani films based on war nowadays are filled with highly exaggerated action and drama scenes. Example: Any Pakistani war film from last decade till recent times.

ii – The direction is excellent by our respected director, Shoaib Mansoor. His other great works includes: Ankahi, Sunehray Din, Fifty-Fifty, Khuda Ke Liyay, Bol and many more.

iii – The performances by everyone is superb and very interesting to watch.

iv – The writing regarding actors’ characteristics especially of the lead performers is of high esteem. All three lead actors and sole leading lady are given with very different characteristics and situations to deal with. We have Faraz as the rich son, who owns a Mercedes, could win any woman’s heart but finding hard time in winning Shenaz’s heart for marriage proposal.

Then we have main comic relief character, Kashif who goes through lots mischievous, yet good at heart pranks to win his superiors’ hearts on him but always misfires. Only do we see in much later episodes, his true patriotism and maturity in deep dramatic, realistic scenarios.

And lastly, we have Gulsher as a polite, simple-minded, shy person who is helped by his female friend in making him aware of his importance and to gain confidence in him while in dealing with situations and people.

All three guys are deeply affected and changed while having Shenaz, a confident, well educated, extrovert and good mannered young lady, who teaches at a school for special children and plays a vital role in the lives of these friends. Her attributes show how she feels the great responsibility in helping out others to make a great impact in the other person’s lives. As we are shown ABC aka Alpha Bravo Charlie fighting for their beloved country while Shenaz is fighting to help Faraz, Gulsher, Kashif and special children.

Her involvement with them in the shape of a friend, loving wife, adds reality to the series that is moving on a personal level. In much later in the story do we see that how their lives are completely changed once they realize that they experience harsh reality in all its rejection, jealousy, loneliness, fate and death. So in a way, not only these ‘Three’ but all ‘Four’ main characters are not only fighting for their country but also for their inner personal goals and demons to cope up with their personal lives.

v – We have Shenaz as a strong personality female lead character instead of a damsel in distress which unfortunately our most of current TV dramas have.

vi – The humor is very funny, at times memorable, genius level comic scenes.

vii – We witness to a decent love triangle where no misunderstandings ever come between their true friendship even after Shenaz’s marriage to one of the lead characters.

viii – The simplicity played as one of the important part, in bringing the viewers’ attention to the progression of the story and being emotionally bond with their characters.

ix – The real war conflicts were touched in this drama series that is, Siachen Conflict and Bosnia War to add more realism and credible situations, to show the great lengths our soldiers go through in defending our homeland.

x – The visual effects are really amazing during the action sequences and how they presented the future state of Kashif. Back in the year 1998, it was awe struck to visualize, accept it as real. And even today, it was shot in most convincing manner possible.

 

 

+ Low Points

+ Overall
Alpha Bravo Charlie is the most cherished, one of the best works (of Shoaib Mansoor) to date for our TV industry in terms of being a ground-breaking reality of its content and in-depth written interesting characters. It features one of best directed, well performed with a touching war-drama story.

Takkabur aired on A-Plus Entertainment from 23rd July 2015. It consists of total 26 episodes. Though it is not mentioned but this drama is for ‘Targeted Audience’ only.

Its executive producer is Sadia Jabbar and the Opening song ‘Kahe Ko Byaahe Bides’ is sung by Abida Hussain.

The drama serial focuses on the conflict between greed over love in the relationships. This drama serial’s concept is HEAVILY INFLUENCED by the classic film of Stanley Kubrick ‘Barry Lyndon’. Rather than having a MALE protagonist, we have a female. ‘Takkabur’ writers would be almost sure that ‘No one especially in Pakistan, people would have watched a film like ‘Barry Lyndon’ as that film is based in the times of Victorian era’.

+ Plot

A lower middle-class family of old parents, is suffering with heavy debts and fears that one day creditors would take away their shop too. Being in constant stress, Hakeem sb consistently rejects all the marriage proposals his daughter. One day a respectable, wealthy person sends a marriage proposal to Mehru.

 

 

+ High Points:

i – In one of the lead roles, we have fame Aly Khan. It was the only reason why I chose to watch ‘Takkabur’.

ii – I was surprised to see that some of the shots were taken in ‘High’ & ‘Low’ angles to indicate character’s power shift.

iii – The international famous film child star Fazal Hussain of Pakistani film ‘Ramchand Pakistani’ played the role of Maaro in this TV drama. I have seen his work before. Here, he did a good a job as a comic relief character.

iv – Aly Khan’s acting is good as expected. All of his scenes are interesting to watch.

v – Performances by Zainab Qayuum, Sajid Shah and Firdous Jamal were mild.

 

 

+ Low Points:

i – The first scene of the first episode, gave a clear message where am I getting myself into… (Ugh) ULTIMATE EDITION of ‘Rhona Dhona’ (Cry & then you Cry again), even though you do not want to but you have to cry. As you would see, almost all of the characters are always CRYING! Koyi apni maa k Marne pr bhi itna nahi rotha, jitna ye log royay hai (No one have cried so much even at their mother’s funeral as these people did). They earned PhDs in crying so much. This TV drama new title should be ‘Takkabur: Ronay Ka Buffet’.

ii – I could not find this actress name who played the role of ‘Hakeem Sb’s Wife / Mehru’s mom’. But I would like to inform all of you that this actress cried in all of the 26 EPISODES! No episode ended without a tear in her eyes. Her name should be in Guinness Book of World Records.

iii – Just as soon as a very ‘Tragic’ scene ends, suddenly the very next scene is where forceful comic performance starts with cartoon-ish score. Ji.

iv – If an actor is to show that he is greedy, he would literally mention a word ‘Meh’ (I) or ‘Faida’ (Benefit) to openly tell the viewers that this is exactly my intend rather than make the audience understand on their own to what the actor’s activity / manner of speaking is indicating them towards to.

v – There were many plot holes where the writers did not even bother to fill the gaps. Such as we are told that Farisa’s husband is working abroad but not even once he was showed contacting his wife / family or working abroad. Viewers never see his face. The same thing happens with Kaber and his three daughters. Only the eldest daughter ‘Sweety’ is shown but never ever do we viewers see the faces or presence of his other two daughters.

vi – The wardrobe of the actors were badly handled. Most of the cast members, we see in same style clothing at any time, at any place. For example, if Sabghat wears two piece suit. Then we would see him in two piece suit even at his home, at hospital, at friend’s house etc. If Kabeer wears shalwar kameez, then he would only be seen in it. Not once he wears something different. Some of the smaller stars wore same colored clothes in much later episodes as well. Naturally during shooting, they must have shot those later episodes scenes in one day so that they don’t have to call the actors again and again. But my dear ‘Takkabur’ BTS team. Don’t you know that people are not stupid? They would easily recognize your flaws especially if they are that simple.

vii – It is the typical thinking of some people belonging to lower class that if a person belongs to upper class, then they must be spending their time late at night clubs / go to disco parties and drink alcohol. You complain, what is my problem? My friend, this is not creative writing. This is your typical thinking which bought you here. If you want to be good writer, then start doing in-depth research. Any lay person can write this crap, to what you wrote. Be creative, bring innovative ideas to differ yourself from common writers.

viii – We have a draw here between Humaira Zahid & Firdous Jamal on who shouts the most and with more volume. Here in Pakistan, there are some production houses who literally believe that ‘The more you SHOUT, the BETTER an actor you would become’. It is embarrassing yet true how some of these ‘Professional’ people misguide these actors and young talent.

ix – As for sir Firdous Jamal, (with due respect) l honestly believe that he is a great actor and I do really enjoy watching his performances. But here it is NOT his fault; this is how his character was written and how director wanted him to perform. Even in the Pakistani film of Shoaib Mansoor ‘Bol’, we have Hakeem sahib who shouts at top of his lungs. — Tell me, what is this? Why do we usually have Hakeem characters shouting unnecessarily and are mean to their wife & daughters? In the ‘Bol’ film, the character is almost (not exact) identical in personality.

x – At first I thought Maaro is the son of Hakeem sb. But later I confirmed it (although he lived much better than Hakeem Sb’s actual son) is actually their house servant. If anyone take a good look at his clothes, his behavior, the way he talks… no one would had guessed him as house servant. Whenever he is shown, his clothes are so new and of good quality, as if always wearing his ‘Eid’ clothes. High Class servant working in lower middle-class family.

xi – Such a lamest way to have a car accident of Kabeer that at first I thought he is joking to scare Mehru off, however BTS team used this lame shot as real ‘Serious’ accident. Bummer!

xii – The script, editing, cinematography… just average. It’s not something special that I would discuss it.

xiii – As far as the drama’s title song is concerned, not good AT ALL! Definitely NOT recommended to listen to. It may INFECT your ears. So be cautious!

xiv – The decision on whether Mehru should or should not marry took ages to show; around 4 – 5 episodes at least. It’s not like she was proposed by a very old age, ‘Grand Pa’ type man or have ‘Bad’ personality where so much issue was created over it. Anyways, it’s not my cup of tea to watch these ‘unnecessary crying & shouting mode’ drama.

+ Overall

If you have nothing else to do and want to kill time, then perhaps you may want to watch Takkabur.

Bandhan is loosely based on Lorca’s Blood Wedding. It is not an adaptation but inspired by the play Blood Wedding (1932), written by Federico Garcia Lorca. It is a play about love betrayal and revenge. The play reflects the honor killings that we read today. Only Hasan and Aisha have returned to take up new characters to perform in Bandhan. Their previous hit play was Jaloos (2017)

A professional musician team was hired to do the job. Maharukh Ali is also a talented actress but it’s a wonder why she has restricted herself to perform in some plays only.

A wedding is set to place soon at a house full of close relatives and guests. Hajra is nervous yet looking forward to her marriage with Hasan who loves her very much. Everyone’s mood is full of joy and happiness but that doesn’t lasts long when Asad re-enters the life of Hajra, his former love.

 

+ High Points
i – Admirable effort on costume designing, it suited well with the characters.

ii – Hajra Yamin has once again gave a spectacular performance on-stage. She is a very good actress and often plays tragic romantic characters. Other Honorable Mentions: Hasan Khan, Shabana Hassan, and Samhan Qazi.

iii – Effective handling of the lighting gave the audience the understanding, of the different moods and beats to improvise the scenes.

iv – The musicians and songs conducted during the played an amazing role in bringing the play closer to the heart.

v – Great work on makeup & hair styling; the performers looked glamorous on-stage.

vi – The set design was carefully designed and constructed, in order for the performers and the musicians be viewed.

vii – The humor level was amusing but on some occasions.

viii – The characters of Ballu and Molvi were well written.

ix – Hasan’s directorial signature move can be seen in this play as well in compare to his previous play, Jaloos (2017). The set is decorated with bright lights, having many actors on stage dealing with a real life tragic issue.

 

+ Low Points
i – When the play started, the first thing came into my mind was watching a “Star Plus Saas-Bahu TV drama”.

ii – The play was targeted mainly for female oriented, whether it was intentionally or unintentionally been done but that’s how it looked. To decide whether this is good or not, we let that for the audience though the marketing campaign of the play didn’t give a clear picture of it before hand.

iii – At many places, the play became too much over dramatic, filled with loud shouts and cries. Yes, yes, I do understand that it is loosely based on a foreign tragic play and it was supposed to be sad but not this much.

iv – There were several times when the dialogue response were not properly completed before the other person starts to speak of their own.

v – Instead of looking at the play’s end to be emotional but I would rather consider as really disappointing. It’s not because of WHAT happens but HOW it is represented.

vi – Shabana’s sarcasm smile in the end looked as though we are watching a black comedy play.

vii – It’s high time now that Roohi and Asma should now be appearing in much bigger roles, even if they are supporting.

 

 

+ Overall
Bandhan has able to save its face value mainly because of technical and secondary reasons otherwise the main sequences were over dramatic and focusing it too much female oriented has ruined its chance to stand among the decent hit plays.

ii – Aisha Iqbal played the supporting role as Rosy was superb. She played out her role to its perfection. Other Honorable Mentions: Sehrish Qadeer and Zain Nazar.
iii – The playwright was adapted marvelously by Babar Jamal.
iv – The production design was well established.
v – The message of the play conveyed to audience and achieved its goal.
vi – The lighting was handled very efficiently.

 

 

+ Low Points
i – The play fell short of its fun moments and jokes.
ii – Although there were few big names in the star power nevertheless the performances were good, if not great.
iii – I did not liked its ending, although it suited the message wanted to deliver. Either an extended or an alternative ending would be more suitable.

 

 

+ Overall
Spy Games has not met its ‘Star Cast’ expectations, but it is still entertaining and fun.

iii – Audience would find dark comedy throughout the film.

iv – The production design is bright, colorful including its props just as the theme of this film.

v – A couple of songs are good to listen to.

i – The film time length is short while being an entertaining film.

ii – The rich duplicate’s life is shown as handful of scenes only in compare to poor duplicate’s life.

iii – The ending for one heroine is good while bad for other one… depending on which duplicate she wins. Why ‘bad’ you say? Well the main problem is due his financial status. You see there is no character shift of him till the end.

 

 

+ Overall

With Danish Taimoor and Javed Sheikh at their best, Wrong No. is an effortlessly bought together to come up with good-rate comedy.

i – Bilal Ashraf played the most interesting, care-free character of this film as Capt. Bilal. It was fun to watch him.

ii – Armeena Khan performed very well as Jero, Capt. Bilal’s love interest. Other Honorable Mentions: Gohar Rasheed and Sana Bucha.

iii – The slow motion & time freeze action sequences gave a good look to watch.

iv – The humor, one liner punch lines are actually pretty good and enjoyable.

 

 

+ Low Points

i – Humayun Saeed in main antagonist role is surprising move but the character did not suited him.And his EPIC FIGHT with Shaan Shahid is of less than one minute. Yayyy!

ii – Highly exaggerated, ‘over the top’ fight sequences while each and every troop speaks out ‘Qalma’ before expiring. Yes, every troop.

iii – What’s the purpose of HUGE CAST of STAR POWER when you are unable to focus on primary objectives to make this film a success?

iv – On the left corner we have Pak army as ‘Meta Humans’ while on the right corner we have militants as ‘Sitting Ducks’. Yep, that’s right. They just sit there to be killed off quickly without being in State of Shock to see their fellow militants getting their necks snapped in surprise attack.

v – In most cases, just average quality of work in cinematography while there are some scenes that completely break 180 degrees, places where close medium shots to be shown are instead master / medium shots including multiple scenes of negative space is shown in the shots.

vi – It’s a straight forward film with hardly / no plot.

vii – In the second half, many times I found myself to be sleeping.

viii – There is a scene where one of the men of Pak army gets shot in the head. He is confirmed by the battalion that the man is down. But afterwards, when they are reporting to their seniors, no mention of losing their guy or any serious expression by any of the troops. WTH? Oh right, he was in‘Extra’ role.

ix – Absolutely no character development of any cast belonging to the militant side. Only mere seconds of flashback scene is shown of Gohar Rasheed’s character and that’s it. Since our army involvement was in this project, I can understand to why no importance was given to these men back story. But are terrorists born or made?

x – Really? Ayesha Omer was your best choice to portray as Zarmina. First of all, is she even a worthy actress? Please.

xi – Clearly the film did not lived up to its hype of expectations.

xii – Even as the film is coming towards its end, you would not remember listening to any songs… if there were any.

xiii – Spelling mistakes in English subtitles / text that are mentioned in particular scenes to define the time frame and situation.

xiv – Special instructions are given by antagonist to look after Zarmina as she is kept captive. But the militants are so absent minded that they are more interested to watch a brawl than to make sure that untied Zarmina does not fled as she is already sitting outdoor.

xv – Strong word of advice for film makers… Never, ever ask for sponsorship from these three brands: Pepsi, Cornetto and Bank Al Falah. They would ruin your film with their product placements.

 

 

+ Overall

Politics aside, Yalghaar is filled with huge star power with enjoyable humor, is also one of the weakest and most outrageous, long, characterless films… which are among the greatest sins any ultra-expensive movie can commit.

iv – Good work by Nabil Hasan for its cinematography. The inserts and camera angles were well chosen.

i – The inclusion of a good actor, Muhammad Ahsan turns out to be wasted. His character needs a much better writing.

Ainak Wala Jin aired on PTV from 1993 –1996. In total it consists of 151 episodes (1 – 4 Seasons). The theme was conceived as a merger of fantasy, real life and science fiction. This drama was re-broadcast two times on television in Pakistan due to public demand. It was widely popular among children for its humor and fictional story line.

The main cast had been invited by many educational institutions and dignitaries like the Governor of Punjab, Pakistan to request for a live performance for them. Even Imran Khan, the legendary cricketer / politician invited them for fund raising of his hospital where the Princess Diana (late) had watched them perform.

Though, it is really sad to know that most of cast members have lived and died under the poor conditions such as Najma (Karnani Churail), Nusrat Ara (Bil Batori) & Munna Lahori.

+ Plot

A genie comes to the earth for his poor visionary treatment. He lands in the Lahore where he meets a young boy who loves fantasies and takes him to a doctor to get him some glasses.

 

 

+ High Points

i – The characters were written in such a way to make iconic mainly due to having different attributes, characteristics, and their signature punchlines. Hence, many made themselves quite memorable for their viewers and fans alike.

ii – The makeup & hair styling were unique nonetheless at times even bizarre for applying on different multiple characters. However, it worked well mainly because they belong to a super natural world / nature.

iii – In the start there was a serious concern of having a good budget, to come up with realistic visual effects. So the team had the next best option is to start using camera tricks, special effects in order to show character / objects appearing / disappearing acts in convincing method. At that time, these effects turn out to be very useful and looked somewhat real. However, it is much later on that they started using visual effects but by now there was really no need of it as the special effects did the job really well, made the viewers satisfied to what they were shown on-screen.

iv – The best performances of the two characters I liked the most were of Haseeb Pasha as Hamoon Jadoogar and Munna Lahori as Zakoota Jin. Not only their characters were very well written but also the fact that they performed very well. I waited for them to make their appearances on-screen. Other Honorable Mentions: Nusrat Ara, Shehzad Qaiser, Nisar Butt, Ajlal Asim Bukhari, Moattar Asim Bukhari and Asad Bhandara.

v – The punch lines were of the most interesting points of this series. Not only they were very comic and amusing but also many different characters had their signature lines to be remembered by. Some of which are as below:

 

  • Zakoota Jin: “Mujhe kaam batao, mein kya karoun, mein kis ko khaun”?

 

 

  • Hamoon Jadugar: “Jubi mera naam Hamoon Jadugar hai koyi Patloon Jadugar nahi” or

 

  • “Jubi meh kehta hu k tu churial nahi daayan hai, meri behen hai. Aaniya Shuaniya…” or

 

  • “Bil Batori, batha chori, khalay kahori, Meh hu Hamoon, Tu hai Dayaan, aaja, aaja, come on, come on…”

 

 

  • Ankhari Jadugarni: “Andhari raat, Na tara aur na chand, khadm bara, khadm bara, khadm bara…”!

 

 

vi – I believe that the direction is satisfactory. Though, working with so many performers for such a long TV series … this was certainly not an easy job to pull off.

vii – Costumes designing of different characters have been rightly suitable to their character’s traits and appearances.

viii – Good editing helps a lot in covering up performance errors, wrong prop placement etc; plus it boasted up the special effects department in making it more interesting and watchable.

ix – The production design may not be perfect but it was above average in almost mid-90s, when this TV series came into being.

x – The overall performances by the entire cast are actually good and at times hilarious even.

xi – Educational messages started to appear in the further episodes for children which is very thoughtful and helpful for their audience rather than just to make for entertainment.

xii – The songs, dances helped to grab more target audience that is children, young adults such as families drawing towards it too.

 

 

+ Low Points

i – I can understand, the intense public demand they must be facing to make more episodes than a usual Pakistani TV series has but still, the total number of episodes were way too many. I mean, to have total 151 episodes are a lot! More than what you wish for. The problems Ainak Wala Jin had to face were mainly of proper story continuation. It was just like cartoons, where many times same issues, troubles kept repeating on and on but with no proper outcome to it. Such as the locket of Nastoor that needs to be stolen. To do this, many, many episodes were produced. Similarly, many times Charlie Mamu gets possessed or controlled by Aliens (yes, aliens) where the viewers were forced to watch same repeated problems. It clearly shows how the team was ‘Forced’ to produce.

ii – Most of the times, there was hardly any logic shown in this TV series. The starting episodes strongly indicated that this world is actually a Buffoonish one where weird or unrealistic things doesn’t matters to anyone that much. For example: Imran’s father car starts to fly on top of busy city and the reactions of these main characters were as if ‘Oh, so we are flying? Great’. Or the time when Imran strictly tells Nastoor that he would rather die but would never cheat. And the next thing you know is that Nastoor helps Imran in every game he plays so that he wins every time.

There are some comic Hollywood films who match this kind of world such as ‘The Mask’ (1994), ‘The Road to Morocco’ (1942) and many more.

iii – There were so many sub plots, characters from the mid of the episodes that I lost track and interest from it. The only thing concerned me after losing interest is that just to watch and see what is happening in each episode than to follow the story.

iv – Since there are so many characters that played in this TV series which also has disadvantage of remembering them all but mostly only few who were most interesting ones.

v – They took the finale episode almost too serious. I don’t agree with the writer’s view on the tragic end but it’s possible that the BTS team didn’t wanted to make any more further episodes than they already have and wanted to convince the audience, why they can’t make it any further.

 

 

+ Overall
Ainak Wala Jin manages to entertain audience with many of its interesting characters and good humor, but still falls short in terms of good story line and by producing unnecessary numerous episodes.
